William Faloon, fondateur du groupe Alcor Life Extension Foundation et de la Church of Perpetual Life

« William Faloon compiled the 1500 page medical reference book Disease Prevention and Treatment and is Director and Cofounder of the Life Extension Foundation. The Life Extension Foundation is a nonprofit organization, whose long-range goal is the radical extension of the healthy human lifespan. (…) When the FDA conducted its first armed raid in 1987, the Life Extension Foundation had only 4,000 members. Thanks to publicity generated by the FDA’s actions, this number grew to 25,000 members by the time his criminal indictments were dismissed in 1995. LEF now has over 100,000 members (…) »

Il ne ressemble pas un peu a un vampire celui qui parle au nom de la Church of Perpetual Life ?

Tiré du site de la Church of Perpetual Life:

« Nikolai Fedorovich Fedorov (1828-1903), one of Russia’s most original thinkers, lived at a time of intense intellectual controversies, artistic creativity and scientific ‘take-off’ in Russia. Yet it was also a time of growing worldwide militarism when increasingly lethal weapons were being developed, of civic strife, of labor unrest in the rapidly industrializing countries of the West, and of revolutionary rumblings in Russia.

Fedorov was deeply distressed by this state of discord and lack of brotherly feeling, which was bringing so much misery to the common people. How could brotherhood be achieved? Would it be possible to divert human energies from wars and dissension towards measures for protecting mankind against natural disasters such as floods, droughts, earthquakes and hurricanes, and to transform nature from ‘a temporary enemy into an eternal friend’?

Fedorov believed that if the causes of disunity, discord and war were elucidated and a common purpose found to divert human energies away from dissensions towards a common goal of overwhelming importance to all human beings, it would fire their imaginations, enlist all their energies and bring about universal cooperation. This goal, of concern to all, was nothing less than to rationalize the blind forces of nature ‘which bring famine, disease and death’. Since death is a natural phenomenon it, too, could and should be overcome by ‘knowledge and action’. »

SENS Research Foundation

Dvorsky’s Crucials

On his blog Sentient Development, George Dvorsky do lists. Here are the first ten of twenty terms that ‘every 21st century futurist should know’:

1- co-veillance (panopticon)
2- multiplex parenting
3- technological unemployment
4- substrate autonomous person
5- intelligence explosion
6- longevity dividend
7- repressive desublimation (spectacle)
8- intelligence amplification
9- effective altruism
10- moral enhancement

Here, 10 mindblowingly futuristic technologies:

1- Artificially Intelligent Personal Assistants (life extension)
2-
Computers Everywhere (machine thinking)
3-
Virtual Animals with Digital Minds (artificial intelligence)
4-
Geoengineering Projects (environmental issues)
5-
Interplanetary Internet (colonizing mars)
6-
True Anti-Aging Intervention (senescence, apoptosis, stem cell)
7-
Robots with a License to Kill (drones)
8-
Grown Organs Laboratories (3d printers)
9-
Personal Fabricators in Every Home (3d printers)
10-
World’s Thirst (water politics and desalination)

I found out about George Dvorsky’s work by looking for scientific researchs on defeating aging. Dvorsky is Chair of the Board for the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies wich works with Humanity+. In a recent post, he introduces briefly Max Tegmark’s perceptronium studies. I will probably come back later on this topic. The time to read the article: 1401.1219v2

Centenarians

« Studies have consistently shown that lifestyle factors have little to do with their remarkable longevity; something’s clearly going on at the genetic level. »

In the affiliation of Aubrey de Grey’s researchs on defeating aging, this article written by George Dvorsky and inspired by Andy Coghlan’s article (Somatic mutations found in the healthy blood compartment of a 115-yr-old woman demonstrate oligoclonal hematopoiesis) highlines the link between blood and stem cells in the aging process:

« This is all quite exciting because it hints at a very plausible rejuvenation therapy. Conceivably, we could re-inject ourselves with stem cells saved from birth or early life — stem cells free from mutations and with full-length telomeres. Now, this wouldn’t halt the aging process, but it could have a dramatic impact on our health and the rate at which we age. Hmmm, this recent breakthrough suddenly seems all that more pertinent. »

Ghost Group

Marijuana and the next big gold rush:

According to Justin Hartfield,  »cannabis prohibition is a social, political, economic and public health disaster. » In a nutshell, Ghost Group‘ co-founder Justin Hartfield wants to turn the website marijuana.com (that he owns) into the Amazon of marijuana and create profits from any kind of entrepreneurial opportunities:  »growing, testing, edibles, tinctures, cosmeceuticals, hospitality, nutraceuticals, entertainment, public events, accessoires, fashion and more. » In an article posted last month, the Wall Street Journal introduced him as the Philip Morris of pot… Sounds like a couple of smart entrepreneurs are turning with success the globally illegal market of marijuana into a legal industry.
Check out the  »Before Investing in the legal marijuana industry » paper and you’ll get all of it. The Ghost Group is not an exception, I could have tell you about The Arcview Group based in San Francisco, founded by Steve Deangelo, or Surna based in Boulder and founded by Tom Bollich.
I’m kind of curious to see who are the smart guys who will take over the marijuana market in New-York. Justin Hartfield says it will be done before 2016.

From wikipedia
»Ghost Group is a venture capital firm based in Newport Beach, California. It focuses on developing consumer and enterprise businesses in the legal marijuana industry. Founded in 2012. »

From Ghostgroup.com
»Ghost Group is an operating company focused on the emerging marijuana sector. Ghost Group wholly owns and manages the largest and most recognized marijuana websites in existence, including Weedmaps.com & Marijuana.com. We’ve been active in the medical marijuana industry since 2007. »

Founders: Justin Hartfield, Doug Francis.

Avant-propos

Recovery for Antigon is an incubation (dubbing) center, helping me to figure out what my first academic paper will be all about.

For now, three main topics lead my researchs:

– defeating aging
– apoptosis process
– new entrepreneurs of entheogen substances (including marijuana, psilocybin, ayahuasca, mdma )

I will mainly post on this website articles related to these topics.

My theoretical background takes deep roots in cybernetic sciences (Wiener, Bateson, VonFoerster ), critical theory (McLuhan, Baudrillard, Ranciere) and philosophy (Bergson, Deleuze, Massumi). My previous scholar papers included studies on:

– the intuition in crisis situations
– neoshamanism in the age of transhumanism
– from proletarian to revolutionary bodies
– the evaluation of student’s aesthetic sensibility in research-creation program
– studying with Kairos

I am a student in Communication Sciences (media studies) at Université de Montréal, affiliated with the Aertiron College in Yellowknife, the SNSLaB in Montreal and the Object Ethnography Project based in NYC.
